Tigers! Clowns! Motorcycle Madness! Aerial artistry! It can mean only one thing — the Bangor Anah Shrine Circus is coming to town, bringing the excitement of bright lights, spangled costumes, daredevil feats, animal acts, the silly antics of clowns and an audience of children and their parents enchanted by the spectacle of the show..

Circus performers will dazzle audiences 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday, May 1; 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, May 2; and 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday, May 3, at the Cross Insurance Arena in Bangor.

Advance tickets are $10 by calling 942-2254 or $12 at the door.

The circus lineup will feature:

  • The Royal Bengal Tigers and cat animal trainer Niche.
  • The speed and precision of juggling sensation TJ Howle.
  • The aerial artistry of Miss Suzie Ashton performing intricate moves in the air using long lengths of airy fabric.
  • The zany antics of the Anah Shrine Clowns.
  • Miss Bird and the Lovely Stephanie performing high about the circus ring.
  • Johnny Peers and his Muttville Comics, featuring a lineup of dogs rescued from tough situations.
  • The Ashtons, who prove that feet are for more than walking as they amaze the crowd with their juggling.
  • TJ Howle Unicycles pushing the limits of balance.
  • Circus United Ballerinas on webs and trapeze, featuring Miss Suzie Ashton.
  • Incline Motorcycle Madness reaching peaks of 60 feet in the air, featuring Enrique Valencia.

The program also will include the Shrine Color Guard, the National Anthem and a circus Overture.

The Anah Shrine Circus will travel to Presque Isle the following weekend. Show times are 7 p.m. Thursday, May 7; 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday, May 8; 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, May 9.
