BRADFORD, Maine — The damage from a fire that gutted a local sawmill on Monday afternoon was so severe that investigators were unable to determine a cause.

Sgt. Joel Davis of the state fire marshal’s office said Wednesday the cause of the blaze has been officially labeled as undetermined.

“There’s so much damage we can’t determine what it was,” Davis said.

The sergeant added no foul play is suspected.

The sawmill, located on Storer Road, was owned by Dwight Perkins, according to Bradford Fire Chief Dusty Kelley. The sawmill was not insured.
