BANGOR, Maine — Bangor police and the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office were collaborating Wednesday to hold a Drug Take Back event at the Airport Mall on Union Street, Chief Deputy William Sheehan said in a statement.

The event in the mall parking lot will last until 6 p.m., and a statewide drug take back event will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., according to Sheehan.

In addition to the drug take back, the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office and the Eastern Agency on Aging are hosting sign-up for the Wandering Program until 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sheehan said.

The wandering program is geared toward giving police information about people with health issues who can leave home without informing their caregivers.
