WEST GARDINER, Maine — A Vermont police officer was arrested along Interstate 295 Wednesday in a road rage incident involving a firearm, according to state police.

Demetria Buhalis, 41, was traveling south shortly before noon when she allegedly pointed a loaded firearm at another vehicle while passing it, according to Lt. Aaron Hayden.

The operators of the other vehicle were able to keep Buhalis’ vehicle in sight before police could pull it over, according to Hayden. Nobody was injured and Buhalis was the lone occupant of her vehicle.

Police recovered the loaded gun on the front seat of Buhalis’ vehicle and placed her under arrest. She was charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, Hayden said.

Buhalis was brought to Kennebec County Jail and later released on bail.
