PORTLAND, Maine — An organization that helps developmentally disabled young adults marks a major milestone.
STRIVE leaders and members broke ground on an expansion project that has been years in the making.
Thanks to $1 million in private donations, the group can get started on building renovations, which includes an additional 3,300 square feet in learning space.
“We’re going to modernize and use a lot of new technology throughout the building,” Peter Brown, associate director of STRIVE, told CBS 13. “We’ll really be able to serve the clients we work with much better.”
STRIVE has another half a million dollars to raise to reach its $1.6 million goal.
The project is expected to be finished in about 16 weeks.
