HOULTON, Maine — A man has been arrested in connection with an early morning robbery Sunday.
Houlton Police Chief Joe McKenna said Daniel T. Vose, 31, of Houlton was taken into custody at about 11 a.m. Sunday. He will be charged with robbery.
McKenna said shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday morning a white man with a long beard wearing a hoodie and a hat entered the Circle K at 3 Military St. and demanded money and cigarettes.
The clerk, who was the only one on duty, gave him an undetermined amount of cash from the register and seven cartons of Marlboro cigarettes valued at $630, McKenna said.
The man then fled on foot and the clerk called police. Maine State Police, with the aid of a K-9 unit, began tracking the suspect, but initially were unable to locate him.
The clerk told police the man had taken out his wallet during the robbery and inadvertently showed an ID with his last name on it. Police then located Vose at what is believed to be his girlfriend’s house around 11 a.m.
A duffel bag found on the premises is believed to contain the money and cigarettes. McKenna said shortly after 2 p.m. police were awaiting a search warrant to determine that.
As of Sunday afternoon, Vose remained in Aroostook County Jail.
