SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — Police on Wednesday identified the body of a man found Tuesday afternoon on the shoreline of the Fore River.

Working with the office of the state medical examiner, investigators identified the man as James J. Gudinas, 47, whose address is unknown but who apparently recently stayed in Greater Brunswick and Greater Portland, according to South Portland Lt. Frank Clark.

Gudinas’ next of kin has been notified.

Police do not believe he died because of foul play and continue to investigate the death.

Anyone who knew or had contact with Gudinas is asked to contact Detective Steve Connors by phone at 207-799-77217 or by email at steveo@southportland.org.
