STANDISH, Maine — An 18-year-old man was seriously injured Wednesday morning when the motorcycle he was riding struck a deer.
Wade Kennedy of Standish was operating a Yamaha YZF-R6 at about 7:23 a.m. on Cape Road in Standish when the motorcycle struck a deer crossing the road, according to a release from Capt. Donald Goulet of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
The motorcycle then left the road and struck a tree, and Kennedy was ejected from the motorcycle. He flew through the air until he struck a phone utility box on the roadside.
Kennedy suffered multiple fractures as well as a head injury, according to Goulet. He was taken to a local hospital. His condition was not immediately available Wednesday afternoon.
