MARSHFIELD – Frances G. Beal, 79, died peacefully at home on Sunday April 19, 2015. She was born April 5, 1936, in Jonesport, to the late James Andrew Gower and Bertha Belle Gower.
Her education began in the Jonesport school system with her graduation from Jonesport High School in 1953. She then went on to Washington State Teachers College in Machias. She married Clayton H. Beal in July 2, 1955, in Denver Colorado. They moved back to Jonesport, where she started a photography business. She loved to cook, quill, knit, garden and spend time with her family. Someone once said to her “Fran how many children do you have?” She replied “five” and the woman said, “oh, you poor soul”. Fran told her she thought she was the poor soul because she loved her family so very much and felt truly blessed. She was known to say “we are not human beings having a spiritual experience, we are spiritual beings having a human experience.”
Frances is survived by her five children, Gayle and husband, John Parsons, of Delta Junction, Alaska, Nathan and wife, Laurel (Barnes), of Marshfield, Naomi Smith of East Machias, Andrew Beal of East Machias and Timothy and wife, Lydia (Johnson), of Marion. They in turn blessed her with nine grandchildren, Jeremy Parsons and wife, Trina, Jennifer Drach and husband, Jesse, Christopher Beal and wife, Shelly (Dubak), Jacob and H. James Beal, Nicholas, Jay and Clara Beal, and Eli Wandell Beal. She was further blessed with great-grandchildren, Emma, Casey, Elianna and Devyn, Jayden and Madison, Andrew and Samuel. Siblings included Ethel Graham, Bill Gower, Doris and Amanda Farnsworth and Edward, Edna and Thurman Berry.; also in-laws, William and wife Mary Beal of Davenport, FL, and Sara and husband, Lewis Beal Sr., of Bradley, ME.
There will be no visiting hours. There will be an informal Celebration of Life with date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Condolences and memories may be shared at
