BELFAST, Maine — The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office continues to search for a juvenile accused of shooting at another teenager Thursday night in Swanville.

The incident led to increased precautions Friday at Belfast Area High School, which is attended by the alleged victim.

Deputies went to the Town House Road at about 7 p.m. Thursday in response to a call about a juvenile, who was a passenger in a car, firing multiple shots into a wooded area near where a 16-year-old was standing in front of his home, according to police.

The shooter, a male juvenile, yelled death threats at the other boy, police reported.

The sheriff’s office has obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect, whom they are not naming because he is a juvenile. The youth will be charged with terrorizing with a dangerous weapon and reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon once he is located.

Lt. Jason Trundy of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office said late Sunday morning that the youth has not been apprehended.
