AUGUSTA, Maine — The state medical examiner’s office confirmed Monday that the body found in the Kennebec River on Friday was 54-year-old Kelly Voytasko of Augusta, who last was seen stepping off the ice and into the river on March 21, the Kennebec Journal reported Monday evening.

The Maine Marine Patrol said in a statement last week that the woman’s body was found about 20 yards from shore near the Pittston side of the river, across from Westerlands Landing in South Gardiner.

Deputy Police Chief Jared Mills said in March that police believed Voytasko to be the woman seen going into the river in large part because her family reported her missing shortly after the incident.
