BINGHAMTON, New York — Jared King delivered a walk-off, pinch-hit RBI single with two outs in the ninth inning, giving the Binghamton Mets (a 5-4 win over the Portland Sea Dogs in Eastern League acttion Thursday night at NYSEG Stadium.

Pat Light (0-1) took the loss for Portland, giving up the run in the ninth. The B-Mets rally started on a one-out walk by Eudy Pina, who stole second base and scored on King’s single.

Paul Sewald (2-0) earned the win for Binghamton, working 1 ⅔ scoreless innings on one hit and one walk. Sewald escaped a huge jam in the eighth, inducing a 1-2-3 double play.

Jantzen Witte continued his hot hitting, going 3-for-4 with a walk for the Sea Dogs. Blake Tekkotte also went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Jonathan Roof and Oscar Tejeda each had two hits.

Binghamton struck first, scoring two runs in the first inning off Kyle Kraus. Gavin Cecchini led off with a double and Brandon Nimmo doubled. Kraus retired the next two, but Josh Rodriguez hammered a two-run double to left.

Portland responded in the second inning, scoring three times off Gabriel Ynoa. Roof and Luis Martinez set the table with singles, and Tekotte brought them home with a triple. Mike Miller gave Portland a 3-2 lead with a sacrifice fly.

Kraus would settle down, finishing out his first Double-A start with four scoreless innings, working five innings on four hits, two runs, two walks and three strikeouts. Robby Scott entered in the sixth inning and gave up a two-run homer to Rodriguez, giving the B-Mets a 4-3 lead.

Portland responded in the top of seventh, tying the game at four with two outs. Witte nailed a double and scored on Tejeda’s single.

The Sea Dogs finished 4-3 on the road trip and are now 2-5 against Binghamton this season.
