PORTLAND, Maine — Yohan Flande was dominant Saturday afternoon at Hadlock Field, carrying New Britain to a 3-0 Eastern League baseball win over the Portland Sea Dogs in game two of their three-game series.

Flande (5-0) threw a one-hitter and allowed just two baserunners through nine innings — a single by Mike Miller and a walk to Carlos Asuaje. It took him just 98 pitches to go the full nine.

The Rock Cats (21-7) won their eighth in a row, while the Sea Dogs (11-18) have dropped six straight home games at Hadlock Field.

For the second straight game, Shane Victorino started in right field for the Sea Dogs while on a rehab assignment for the Boston Red Sox. He went 0-for-3, grounding out twice and popping out once.

New Britain scored one run each in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings to provide Flande with the offense he needed to win the game. Pat Valaika went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, Jayson Langfels was 2-for-3 with a run scored, and Tom Murphy hit his sixth home run of the season.

Portland starter Mike Augliera was impressive, allowing two runs (one earned) in six innings. He gave up six hits, walked two, and struck out seven.
