GREENE, Maine — A local woman died early Saturday morning in the third fatal accident reported by state police over the weekend.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the single-vehicle accident that claimed the life of Amanda Rines, 25, according to Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.
The crash was reported around 1 a.m. along Allen Pond Road, according to McCausland. Investigators reported Rines, who was not wearing a seat belt, had gone off the road and struck a tree head-on a short distance from her home.
McCausland said Rines was pronounced dead at the scene.
Also over the weekend, a man was killed in a motorcycle accident in Dayton and a man died in Hollis when his car was struck by a tractor-trailer.
