ATHENS, Maine — A Somerset County man was killed early Wednesday morning in a single-vehicle rollover on Route 43, according to Sheriff Dale Lancaster.
Chad Flanders, 39, was alone his 1983 Chevrolet pickup truck, which he had purchased on Tuesday, according to Lancaster.
Flanders, who was traveling east on Route 43, lost control of the pickup, overcorrected and rolled over, Lancaster said. Flanders was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected, with the truck winding up on its roof.
The sheriff said Flanders’ license was suspended at the time of the crash, and police are looking into speed and alcohol as factors.
Athens, Hartland and Skowhegan firefighters assisted sheriff’s deputies at the scene.
