HOLDEN, Maine — One man was taken to a Bangor hospital with minor injuries and Route 46 shut down for much of the Thursday morning commute after a collision involving two pickup trucks, according to Holden police Chief Gene Worcester.
Justin Platt, 38, of Eddington had slowed down to turn into the G&M Family Market parking lot when his truck was rear-ended by Robert Bachorik, 46, of Clifton, according to Worcester.
The impact sent Platt’s vehicle into a utility pole while Bachorik’s truck continued through the Route 1A intersection, went airborne and landed on its side, according to Worcester.
Both men were traveling toward Bucksport on Route 46 at the time of the crash, which was reported around 5:30 a.m., Worcester said.
Traffic on Route 1A, which is expected to see heavy traffic during Memorial Day weekend, was not affected, Worcester said.
Platt was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center with minor injuries, Worcester said. Holden fire, Brewer police and Capital Ambulance assisted at the scene.
Both pickup trucks were destroyed.
