BRUNSWICK, Maine — The owner of a mobile home at 6 Karen Lane was taken to Mid Coast Hospital Thursday afternoon after a fire caused extensive damage to her home.
The woman, whose name was not released, was asleep in a bedroom and awoke to heavy smoke in the house, Brunswick Fire Chief Ken Brillant said.
Firefighters from Brunswick were called to the home in the Maplewood Manor mobile home park at about 12:30 p.m. Paramedics took the woman to Mid Coast Hospital for possible smoke inhalation; she has since been released, Brillant said at 3:30 p.m.
The fire was under control in about a half-hour, Brillant said, and the majority of the firefighters cleared the scene by 2 p.m. The home was not burned flat, he said, but was significantly damaged by the blaze.
Bath and West Bath firefighters also were at the scene.
Brillant said he was not sure whether the home was insured. Investigators from the Brunswick Police Department and the state fire marshal’s office were still at the scene Thursday afternoon.
