CAMDEN, Maine — A wind-whipped fire damaged a home Thursday afternoon.
Camden Fire Chief Chris Farley said the state fire marshal’s office is being called in to assist in the investigation because of the agency’s expertise.
There were no injuries. There was fire damage to the kitchen and smoke damage throughout the two-story 1,000-square-foot home located at 40 John St.
The fire was reported shortly after 2 p.m., the chief said. No one was home at the time of the fire. The house is owned by Mary Amory, according to town assessment records.
When crews arrived, there was fire in the kitchen. The strong wind caused sparks to create a trio of fires in the yard as crews were there, Farley said.
Crews from Rockport, Lincolnville and Hope responded to assist Camden. Those towns left by 4 p.m., but the chief remained at the scene awaiting the arrival of a fire marshal.
