LINNEUS, Maine — A truckload of seed potatoes ended up in a ditch Sunday and not in a field when it overturned in southern Aroostook and spilled its load, according to Sgt. Brian Harris of the Maine State Police.
Christopher Hagan of Houlton, no age given, was driving a 1994 Kenworth farm truck loaded with the seed around 2:30 p.m. when he attempted a right turn from Burton Road onto Bangor Road, Harris said.
The truck’s right tires went into the ditch, making the truck lean sharply to the right and the weight of the load caused the bulk body to separate from the truck and spill the spuds.
Bangor Road was shut down for a time while the truck and potatoes were cleared from the scene.
The accident was investigated by Trooper Gavin Endre.
