ELLSWORTH, Maine — A local man was arrested early Saturday after a brief pursuit on Route 1, Ellsworth police Lt. Harold Page said.
Police had attempted to stop Shawn Murphy, 29, for a routine traffic violation around 1 a.m., but he did not yield, according to Page.
Following a brief pursuit that only lasted a couple miles, Murphy pulled over on his own and he was quickly taken into custody, Page said.
Murphy was charged with driving to endanger, eluding an officer, OUI, operating after suspension and driving 30-plus miles per hour over the speed limit.
He was taken to Hancock County Jail after his arrest.
