PORTLAND, Maine — An armed suspect was still on the loose Tuesday afternoon after robbing a TruChoice Federal Credit Union branch at the intersection of Park Avenue and Forest Street.
Vernon Malloch, assistant chief of the Portland Police Department, said in a news release the robbery occurred around noon at the bank at 272 Park Ave. The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Portland police Lt. James Sweatt provided photos of the suspect Tuesday afternoon. The suspect was wearing oversized glasses, a fake mustache and a dark wig under a floppy white sun hat.
The suspect, described as a black male between 5 feet, 10 inches and 6 feet tall, was also wearing black gloves and a blue suit with a tie.
One photo shows the suspect pointing a handgun at a teller at the credit union.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone that may have seen suspicious activity at the time of the robbery is encouraged to contact the detective division at 874-8533 or emergency communications at 874-8575.
The FBI is assisting in the investigation.
