AVON, Maine — A truck driver was sent to a hospital early Wednesday after a truck hauling logs overturned on Route 4 in Franklin County, Sheriff Scott Nichols said.

Stephen Boyd Jr., 27, of Phillips was heading north and failed to negotiate a sharp turn, according to Nichols.

Boyd’s entire unit overturned, sending logs spilling into the road and also striking a local residence, causing some of the logs to go into the house, Nichols said.

Nobody inside the home was injured, the sheriff said, but Boyd was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington for treatment of his injuries.

Nichols said speed appeared to be a factor in the crash.
