FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — Ten former coaches and athletes from will be inducted into the Fort Fairfield High School Athletic Hall of Fame during a ceremony at the school on July 16.
Those to be inducted are the following:
Ed Adams (Class of 1969) was a multisport star athlete in basketball, baseball and track. He was a Little All-American in basketball, captained his basketball team and played multiple positions in baseball. He was a member of the Tigers’ 1966 Aroostook League championship baseball team and excelled in the javelin, shot put and discus on the school’s track team.
Ralph Clark (Class of 1946) starred in basketball, baseball and track. As a senior, he led the 1946 basketball team to the Aroostook League championship as team captain and top scorer. In baseball, he went on to become captain at the University of Maine and was scouted by the Philadelphia Phillies and the Chicago White Sox.
Lenny Cole was the boys soccer coach from 1970 to 1982. His teams were perennial tournament contenders. The Tigers, who won five straight league titles, won the school’s first Eastern Maine title in 1976 and was regional runner-up in 1977.
Rachelle Cormier (Class of 1991) was the 1991 state track champion in the 100- and 200-meter runs and had several several top-five finishes at the state meet in the 100, 200 and 400, from 1989 to 1991. She still holds the school record in all three events. Cormier also starred in basketball and soccer for four years.
Robin Davenport (Class of 1984) earned 12 varsity letters in basketball, softball, soccer and field hockey. She ranks third on the school’s career scoring list for girls basketball and was selected to the EM all-tourney team in 1983 and to the All-Aroostook teams in 1983 and 1984. In soccer she played goalie and was named to the All-Eastern Maine second team in 1983.
Gary Janosco was a 32-year educator and a successful varsity baseball coach at Fort Fairfield. The Tigers’ 1970 state championship is the only Class A championship in school history. The 1965 graduate of Aroostook State Teachers College (UMPI), was the junior high and high school physical education teacher from 1965 to 1971, when he became athletic director and then assistant principal and eventually high school principal. He retired in 1997.
Shawn Manter (Class of 1989) was a 1,000-point scorer who led his team to the 1988 Eastern Maine Class C boys basketball championship. He was named to the Class C all-tourney team and a McDonald’s East-West Senior All-Star. Manter stared at the University of Maine at Presque Isle, where he was a 1,000-point scorer and a 2014 inductee into its athletic hall of fame.
Kim McCrea Dorsey (Class of 1996) earned 12 letters in skiing, soccer and softball. She was a top classical and freestyle skier with a runner-up finish in the state freestyle championship her freshman and sophomore years and top-10 state finishes in classical and freestyle her junior and senior years. In soccer, McCrea was selected to the All-Eastern Maine team as a senior.
Danielle Searles (Class of 2004) was a four-year starter in soccer, basketball and softball. She was a Maine Class C/D senior all-star in soccer is the No 2 scorer in Fort Fairfield girls basketball history with 948 points. She was a McDonald’s Class C/D senior all-star after leading the Tigers to four tournament appearances. Searles was part of the Tigers’ 2002 Eastern Maine runner-up softball team.
Frank Thibodeau (Class of 1975) was a three-sport state champion, winning in cross-country skiing in 1974, in the 2-mile run during the 1975 track season and in cross-country in 1974. He was undefeated in track in his senior year and qualified for the New England Championships in cross-country. Thibodeau lettered four times in cross-country and track at the U.S. Military Academy.
