OLD TOWN, Maine — A man was taken to the hospital Wednesday evening after his car struck a vehicle on North Main Street, causing a gas leak, according to police.
A medical emergency caused the man, whose name was not disclosed, to lose control, according to Old Town Police Capt. Lee Miller.
The accident occurred around 7 p.m., according to Miller. The area around the scene was evacuated due to the gas leak.
The driver was the lone occupant of the vehicle, according to Miller, and officials used an AED to revive him after he apparently went into cardiac arrest, the captain said.
The driver was brought to Eastern Maine Medical Center for treatment. State and Old Town police and Bangor Gas officials responded.
