FALMOUTH, Maine — A crash involving a tractor-trailer and a car is causing traffic in the southbound lanes of Interstate 295 to back up, according to alerts from the Maine Department of Transportation and the Maine Department of Public Safety.
The crash happened shortly before 6 p.m., when a blue Nissan driven by Elizabeth Morgan, 22, of New Gloucester was struck from behind by a 2003 Peterbilt driven by Paul Bean, 53, of Levant, according to Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Traffic is down to one lane and is expected to remain so for the next several hours, McCausland said.
The tractor-trailer was carrying lumber, he said. No charges are expected.
