WISCASSET, Maine — The Wiscasset town office was unable to conduct business Friday because of lightning striking the office’s computer server during Thursday’s thunderstorm, administrative assistant Kathy Onorato said.
The town office will remain closed for the remainder of Friday, she said.
Residents are encouraged to go online for services such as car registrations and hunting and fishing permits.
The town website was unaffected by the lightning-struck server, however, the town office will be unable to conduct business until the server is fixed. The server is undergoing maintenance.
Town officials hope to reopen the office for business on Monday, but that will depend on server repairs.
