READFIELD, Maine — A former Maranacook High School student is facing charges after masquerading as a state trooper and talking his way into a meeting with the boys lacrosse team, according to the Department of Public Safety.
Caleb Jackson, 19, allegedly showed a badge and a handgun on Tuesday afternoon on the campus of Kents Hill School, where Maranacook plays its home lacrosse games, Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said.
Jackson allegedly used the gun and badge to talk his way into a postgame meeting after Maranacook’s match with Messalonskee High School.
According to McCausland, Jackson approached Maranacook’s head coach and athletic director, convinced them he was a state trooper and wished to speak to the team about sexting.
School officials became suspicious and contacted state police. Trooper Jed Malcore went to the school, found Jackson on school grounds and arrested him, McCausland said.
McCausland said the gun Jackson had was in a holster on his belt, concealed under a coat. The loaded gun never was removed from the holster.
Jackson, who lists his residence in Wayne, was charged with impersonating a public servant, carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a gun on school property, McCausland said.
