OGUNQUIT, Maine — Investigators late Thursday morning confirmed the identity of a man killed in a fire in Ogunquit.
Department of Public Safety Spokesman Stephen McCausland said the victim is Mark Barnard, 54.
Barnard’s body was discovered in a bedroom, according to McCausland.
According to fire investigators, the fire that destroyed his apartment originated from a frying pan left on a stove.
Barnard’s apartment, located over a garage that was attached to a Besbill Street home, received heavy fire damaged but the fire did not spread to the house, McCausland said.
This marks the sixth fire death in Maine in 2015.
