SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — Police officers in South Portland will soon be wearing body cameras as part of their uniform.
Earlier this week the South Portland City Council approved an application for a federal grant.
The city will use that money to buy body cameras for police officers.
Supporters of this technology believe body cameras can help answer questions about what happens in confrontations between officers and suspects.
But some opponents believe there’s a risk the cameras could get in the way of civil liberties.
