SEARSMONT, Maine — A Morrill man accused of brandishing a knife during a robbery of $5 Thursday night has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
Benjamin Young, 24, allegedly pulled up behind the car of a 17-year-old boy who was fishing in Searsmont, according to a media release issued Friday by the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office. The two knew each other because they worked together a year ago, Lt. Jason Trundy wrote in the press release.
The teen later told police Young pulled out a knife and demanded $5, which “he believed was owed to him.” The teen complied with Young’s demand, Trundy wrote in the report.
Officers found Young, interviewed him and charged him with robbery, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and violation of conditions of release. Young was taken to the Waldo County Correctional Center to be booked. His bail has been set at $5,000 cash or $10,000 surety.
