WISCASSET, Maine — A Waldoboro man pleaded guilty on Monday to sexually assaulting a 14-year-old child and was sentenced to eight years in prison with all but 2.5 years suspended.

John Field, 58, was arrested Jan. 10, 2015, in Waldoboro and charged with unlawful sexual contact after the teen said Field sexually assaulted her while she cleaned his home.

Field pleaded not guilty at an April 13 arraignment, but on Monday, he changed his plea to guilty of the Class B felony, according to court documents.

In addition to the jail sentence, Justice Daniel Billings sentenced Field to three years probation.
