PITTSFIELD, Maine — Maine School Administrative District 53 schools were in lockdown Thursday because of a threatening text at Warsaw Middle School, according to the superintendent.

Superintendent Dominic DePatsy said in an email that the threatening text came to a student. All students and staff are safe.

DePatsy said Pittsfield’s schools are in close proximity to each other, which resulted in all schools being locked down.

DePatsy said later Thursday that students were dismissed at the normal dismissal time, and police were present during the dismissal.
