BELGRADE, Maine — A local man was arrested Friday on suspicion of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl, the Department of Public Safety said.
Travis Gerrier, 21, is also accused of supplying alcohol to the victim, in addition to gross sexual assault, according to spokesman Stephen McCausland.
Last week, troopers responded to a report that the girl was missing, and Gerrier and the girl were located a short distance from his residence in an outbuilding, McCausland said.
The spokesman added Gerrier knew the girl and had been talking to her via social media. He is being held on $2,000 bail at Kennebec County Jail.
