PARKMAN, Maine — The search for a man accused of killing a woman in Piscataquis County entered its eighth day Friday.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said the search for Robert Burton, 38, is ongoing. Burton is wanted on a charge of murder issued by the attorney general’s office.

With the weekend approaching, McCausland is urging people who may be headed to camps or to visit relatives in Piscataquis County to use caution.

“We need them to be aware that if there’s something that seems out of place, we want to hear from them,” McCausland said. “[People in] the area should continue to be aware of their surroundings, watch for any suspicious activities. If something doesn’t look right they need to call us.”

Burton is wanted in connection with the death of his ex-girlfriend, Stephanie Ginn Gebo, 37. Ginn Gebo was found unresponsive by her children on June 6 at her home in Parkman.

Burton has an extensive criminal history of domestic violence, which includes convictions for kidnapping, assault with a dangerous weapon, assault, terrorizing, trafficking in prison contraband and tampering with a witness.

Burton, who stands 5-feet-9-inches tall and has brown hair and blue eyes, is considered to be armed and dangerous. Police are warning the public not to approach him.

Anyone who sees Burton is advised not to approach him and to call state police in Bangor at 973-3700 or dial 911.
