BUCKSPORT, Maine — The Hannaford supermarket in Bucksport advised customers is advising consumers to return packages of 80 percent ground beef purchased at the store between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. Friday.
A production run of ground beef Friday morning at the Bucksport store may have produced beef with fragments of plastic or metal, Hannaford Supermarkets spokesman Eric Blom said Friday in a news release.
The ground beef at issue is Hannaford’s 80 percent lean, with a sell-by date of June 13.
Store personnel detected an equipment malfunction that could have caused a problem, Blom said.
“Hannaford has received no reports of customers finding foreign materials in the ground beef,” he said. “We are issuing this advisory through an abundance of caution.”
Consumers who purchased this item are asked to return it for double their money back.
