LEWISTON, Maine — Lisa Frandsen bought her house on May 15. Just a day or so after she moved in, she said she noticed something strange happening.

“We noticed a lot of people driving by, a lot of traffic and they were slowing down, so I was looking out the window and wondering what is going on here,” she said.

Frandsen said she noticed a few people walking around her property and even looking in her windows. She said at first she thought people were just admiring her house, but it didn’t take long for her to figure out what was actually happening.

“People started coming up to the door and they were asking me is this the house that’s listed on craigslist, and I’m like, ‘No you must be mistaken,’” She said. “But then it kept happening. I finally asked one of the couples to see the ad, and he had it on his phone.”

Frandsen decided to take matters into her own hands. First she put up a sign telling others her house isn’t for rent. She then found the Craigslist ad and emailed the man who created the post asking for more information.

Frandsen gave CBS 13 a copy of the emails. A man claiming to own the home wrote to her, saying “You may go by the house and look around it or through the windows if you like what you see.”

The ad had been removed from Craigslist by Sunday afternoon.

Frandsen said she hopes this means she can move on with her life.
