HOULTON, Maine — A 21-year veteran of the state police, Brian Harris, has been promoted to lieutenant in charge of state police in Aroostook County, according to Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.

Harris has spent his entire career with Troop F in Houlton and last Friday his promotion ceremony was held at The County barracks with Col. Robert Williams, chief of the Maine State Police, McCausland said.

Harris, who was promoted to sergeant in 2010, will command the 18 troopers and three sergeants assigned to Troop F covering Aroostook County.

Harris replaces John Cote, who was promoted to major last month and transferred to Augusta, McCausland said.
