WARREN, Maine — A 40-year-old Warren man is scheduled to make his initial court appearance Friday afternoon after being accused of assaulting an 8-year-old boy.
David L. Trask was arrested Wednesday night and charged with domestic violence assault by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. He was taken to the Knox County Jail in Rockland, where he remained Friday unable to make $250 cash bail.
The mother of the child reported that Trask, who was living in the same home, had struck her son in the back for no reason, according to the affidavit filed by police.
The responding officer noted a red mark on the child’s back and the boy told him it was sore. The affidavit indicates Trask asked the child to get ready for bed and then struck him. The child told the officer that he had put down his computer tablet and was ready to take his medicine when he was struck, according to the affidavit.
Trask admitted that he struck the boy, according to the affidavit, and then made derogatory, profane remarks about the child to the officer in the presence of the child. The officer then arrested Trask.
