PORTLAND, Maine — Bright colors, rainbow flags and pounding dance music turned downtown Portland into a temporary party zone on Saturday as the Pride Portland parade made its way from Monument Square to a fair in Deering Oaks Park.
The annual parade comes at the tail end of a 10-day celebration Maine’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, ally/asexual community.
Event organizers state their goal is, “to bring people together to celebrate the achievements of the LGBTQA movement, remember our history and raise awareness of the work that still needs to be done.”
