PARKMAN, Maine — Organized searches for a wanted man who has eluded capture for more than two weeks have been scaled back, according to the Department of Public Safety.
Spokesman Stephen McCausland said Monday there have been no verified sightings of Robert Burton, 38, since he was spotted along a Guilford snowmobile trail last week.
Burton is wanted in connection with the death of his ex-girlfriend, Stephanie Ginn Gebo, 37.
Gebo’s body was found on June 5 in her home in Parkman.
Despite the scaled back organized searches, police will continue to maintain a presence in the area this week with increased patrols, with the Parkman Town Hall continuing to serve as a command post.
Burton, who has a long criminal history, is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. Residents are advised to lock houses, vehicles and outbuildings.
Any suspicious activity should be reported by calling state police in Bangor at 973-3700 or 911.
