HOLLIS, Maine — A local man is facing multiple charges, including felony theft, after allegedly taking cash to do a job that he never did, according to a state police statement.
Gregory McLaughlin, 37, is also accused of violating his bail and operating after suspension, according to the statement. He was arrested on Tuesday.
Earlier this month, a Hollis resident called state police after McLaughlin had received cash to perform a job but disappeared and never returned, the statement said. It is believed McLaughlin used the money to purchase heroin.
McLaughlin has a long criminal history of thefts dating back to the early 1990s, and he was on bail for a previous felony theft charge, the statement said.
McLaughlin was transported to the York County Jail, where he is being held without bail.
