CRAWFORD, Maine — Route 9 in Crawford was closed for two hours Wednesday while crews worked to get a tractor-trailer back on the road.
Kim Sawyer, a trooper with the Maine State Police, said Kirk Schurman of Canada was traveling in rainy and foggy weather on Route 9 between 2 and 3 a.m. when he saw another tractor-trailer coming toward him. Schurman told police he lost control of his rig while attempting to avoid a collision and wound up off the roadway.
Schurman was not injured, Sawyer said.
“We just had to close the road for a couple of hours,” the trooper said. Crews needed to shut down both lanes while they got the tractor-trailer back on the highway.
The road was closed about 7-9 a.m., Sawyer said.
