Each week the BDN Maine Outdoors team takes a look at different gear you might need for your next outdoor adventure. For this week’s Gear Bag, we looked at the FuelBelt Helium H2O hydration belt.
What is it? The FuelBelt Helium H2O hydration belt is a device that Ron Lawson, general manager of Triathlete Sports Inc., suggests for anyone looking to carry hydration with them while running.
Why do I need it? Staying hydrated while out on long runs is very important to make sure your body does not overheat and is functioning on all cylinders. The lightweight hydration belt can help with that, as it holds two 7-ounce bottles that can carry water or your favorite electrolyte drink mix. The plastic molded holsters keeps the bottles in place, while the hex-foam padding helps the belt sit comfortably on your hips. Channels on the hex-foam padding allow air to circulate through, keeping you cool. The belt is fully adjustable and comes with a soft-touch Velcro closure to help prevent chafing. A removable storage pocket allows you to stash gels, keys or any other valuables close by.
How much does it cost? The FuelBelt Helium H2O hydration belt costs $49.95.
Where do I find it? The FuelBelt Helium H2O hydration belt is available at Triathlete Sports Inc. in Bangor.
