ORONO — The University of Maine Cheerleaders will hold the 13th annual Spirit Camp, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., June 29-July 1, at the New Balance Student Recreation Center. ROAD RACING
BUCKSPORT — The 40th running of the Tour Du Lac, founded by local runners Steve and Anne Norton, will begin with registration at 6:30 a.m. and race starting at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, June 27. The race encircles Silver Lake starting at the Bucksport Town Pool, heads up Central Street, onto Millvale Road then the Charlie Cole road, left on Silver Lake and finishing at the Town Pool. Walkers are encouraged to begin at 6:30 a.m. In honor of its 40th year, race directors are offering $100 dollars to the first male
and female to break the course records, which currently are held by Louie Luchini 50:20 and Cassie Hintz 59:06, respectively.
PERRY — 45th Perry to Eastport 7-Mile Charles E. Davis Memorial Road Race, also 4-mile walk, 9 a.m. July 5, for ages 10 and over, race-day registration 7:30-8:30 a.m. at Shead High School, Eastport. MILBRIDGE — Registration is open for the annual Milbridge 5K scheduled for Saturday, July 25, during Milbridge Days. The top three male and female 5K racers will receive cash prizes. Ribbons will be awarded for the top three in each category and ribbons for all Fun Run participants. The 3.1-mile wheel-measured course follows scenic Fickett’s Point Road in Milbridge. Registration is $12 (5K) and $3 (Fun Run) when you preregister by July 22. After that, registration is $15 and $5, respectively. FORT KENT — The University of Maine-Fort Kent student affairs office will host a 7 vs. 7 soccer tournament at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at the UMFK sports fields. The tournament will be a 16 and older co-ed event. Each team needs a minimum of seven players on the field at one time, including a goalkeeper. The cost is $2 per person. BELFAST — Join the Seacoast United Coaching staff for an exciting and fun four days of soccer from July 13-16, including a NIKE ball and T-shirt for all players and will focus on a fun curriculum of dribbling, passing and shooting techniques. Players will participate in challenging skills competitions each day and also play small sided games. The camp will meet 9 a.m.-noon for ages 7-14 for a cost of $85; and 9-10 a.m. for ages 4-6 for $50, all on Anderson Field. ELLSWORTH — USTA Angell Junior Championships have been moved to June 27-28 if needed, at Ellsworth Tennis Center. The USTA-sanctioned tournament is open to boys and girls 14, 16 and 18. PORTLAND — The 43rd annual MTA Championships will be held July 10-12, at the Fore River (Waynflete) Tennis Complex. The event is sanctioned as a major outdoor tournament by the Maine Tennis Association. Competition will be held in men’s and women’s open singles and doubles, as well as in men’s 35-and-over, 45-and-over, and 55-and-over singles. TRIATHLON
ORRINGTON — The Bangor YMCA will host its annual Tri for the Y Sprint Triathlon, 8 a.m.-noon, July 19, beginning at Brewer Lake boat launch, to raise funds for Bangor Y. It is a USA Triathlon-sanctioned event. Triathletes will swim 750 meters in Brewer Lake, enjoy the beautiful out-and-back course through Orrington in the 12.4-mile bike, and enjoy the views from the shores of Brewer Lake in the 3.1-mile run.
