VEAZIE —  Girl Scouts of Maine announced recently that it will honor Carol Colson of Veazie with the 2015 Juliette Award at the sixth annual Pearls of Wisdom breakfast Thursday, Sept. 17, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Bangor.

Girl Scouts of Maine established the Juliette Award to honor a woman who embodies the essence of Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of Girl Scouts of the USA. Juliette Gordon Low was a woman who exhibited a heightened sense of service to community and the courage, confidence and character to make the world a better place.

“With her creativity, insight and strategic thinking, Carol Colson is a woman of courage, confidence and character, and is a phenomenal role model for girls,” said Joanne Crepeau, CEO, Girl Scouts of Maine. “She inspires us all to want to make a difference in our community — a quality that is at the very heart of Girl Scouting.”

Colson is senior vice president and director of marketing and community relations at Bangor Savings Bank. She has served numerous nonprofits, including the Eastern Maine Medical Center Auxiliary board, Jobs for Maine Graduates, Bangor Rotary, Bangor Region Leadership Institute, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Bangor Area Homeless Shelter, American Heart Association, March of Dimes, Bangor Y, United Way of Eastern Maine, MS Society, Eastern Maine Healthcare MS Center, My Place Teen Center and Maine New Leadership.
