BANGOR, Maine — Maine State Police are seeking two young men they say committed burglaries at three convenience stores in Franklin County late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning.
The overnight break-ins occurred at Skoolhouse Variety on School Street in Weld, Our Family Variety in New Vineyard and My Dad’s Place in North Jay, Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said late Wednesday afternoon in a news release.
State police have released images from security cameras at the stores. The images show both intruders wearing gloves, their faces covered with blue bandanas.
McCausland said that one of the suspects is described as a white male with short dark hair and the other a slender black man with thick-rimmed glasses.
The suspects got in the stores by breaking glass in the front doors. The thieves made off with cigarettes, alcohol and chewing tobacco.
Anyone with information on the burglaries is asked to call Maine State Police in Augusta at 624-7076.
