DOVER-FOXCROFT — Brandon Young delivered a walkoff single in the bottom of the seventh inning Thursday evening to lift the Penquis Navigators to an 8-7 victory over Madison in American Legion baseball Zone 1 action.

The victory was the first for Penquis in Zone 1 legion play.

Young, who also pitched a scoreless frame in the top of the seventh, plated Chandler Rockwell and Aron Smestad to seal the win for the Navigators.

Rockwell pitched four innings in his first start, allowing no earned runs and striking out two. Chase Nelson of Madison also posted an impressive start on the mound, allowing only one earned run over six innings while striking out five.

Nick Hagan singled twice for Penquis, and Billy Brock and Matt Spear each drove in runs.

Nelson, Cody Lawyerson, and Chase Malloy each had two hits for Madison.

Brewer 9, Motor City 1

At Husson University’s Winkin Complex in Bangor, Matt Pushard scattered eight hits and two walks while striking out 10 to lead Brewer to the seven-inning win over Motor City of Bangor.

Pushard helped his cause with a solo homer while Michael Grimble chipped in with two singles and four RBIs. Chase Allen added a double, single and RBI while Alex Maxsimic contributed a double and two RBIs.

Tommy Burns tripled and singled to spark Motor City. Jackson Coutts and Tommy Burns each added two singles with Burns driving in a run.

Brewer 13, Penquis 7

At Heddericg Field in Brewer on Wednesday, Logan Rogerson doubled and singled twice with two RBIs, three runs scored and three stolen bases to lead the Brewer Falcons past the Penquis Navigators of Dover-Foxcroft.

Rogerson also earned the pitching win with three innings of one-hit, shutout relief. He struck out four batters.

Mike Grimble added a single, double, two RBIs and a run scored as part of Brewer’s 15-hit offense. Chase Allen singled and doubled with three runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base while Dylan Soper singled and doubled with a run and a stolen base and Kobe Rogerson added two singles, two RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base for the 4-1 Falcons.

Brooks Law paced 0-6 Penquis with two singles and three RBIs, while Aron Smested singled twice with two runs scored and an RBI and Chandler Rockwell added two singles, two runs scored and two stolen bases.

Junior Legion

Coffee News 11, Winslow 4

Tyler Parke singled twice and Nick Cowperthwaite added an RBI triple to help the Coffee News Cadets of Bangor beat Winslow.

Noah Missbrenner, Kobe Smith and Zachary Cowperthwaite each added a single for the Cadets and Zachary Cowperthwaite earned the pitching win.

Ben Smith singled twice and drove in a run for Winslow and Andrew Rapaigue added two singles. Tommy Tibbetts chipped in with a single.

LL Baseball

D3, all-stars

Sebasticook Valley 5, Lincoln 4

At Newport, Brent Hewes doubled home Cody Chretien with the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fifth to lead host Sebasticook Valley to victory in District 3 Little League all-star tourney action.

Chretien drove in the tying run in the fifth on a grounder and also singled for Sebasticook Valley (1-0), while Dylan Bickford singled and Jordan Hawthorne, Nick Lovley and Andy Hopkins each drove in a run by drawing bases-loaded walks in the second inning.

Lovley was also the winning pitcher, striking out 12 and walking three in five innings of work, while Bickford earned the save, which included starting a double play in the sixth by catching a liner back to the mound.

William Brown singled twice to pace Lincoln (1-1), while Issac Ring singled and drove in two runs and Alex Tash singled and stole two bases.

Holbrook 12, Houlton 2

At Houlton, Holbrook struck for two first-inning runs on an error and RBI single by Hunter Kimball en route to the District 3 all-star win over Houlton.

Elijah Matheson doubled in the first for Houlton and scored on Drew Foley’s single.

Holbrook capitalized for five more runs in the third inning and Houlton added a run when Matheson scored again when Jeremiah Ireland singled.

Holbrook added on five more runs in the fourth and the game ended via the 10-run rule. Holbrook’s Adam Hoxie pitched strong, finishing the four innings with 48 pitches.
