HERMON, Maine — Two children were rescued from a burning Hermon trailer on Tuesday morning, according to officials.

The children, whose names and ages were not disclosed, were taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center for treatment, according to Hermon Assistant Fire Chief Eric Pelletier.

The fire at the Wing Road residence was reported by a passer-by shortly after 7 a.m., according to Pelletier.

Heavy smoke was billowing from the trailer when crews arrived, and crews were able to quickly rescue the children, Pelletier said.

The assistant chief added it was unclear who else was home at the time of the fire.

Crews had the fire knocked down in about 20 minutes after getting the children out of the trailer, Pelletier said.

A cause has not been determined and the state fire marshal’s office and Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office will be investigating throughout the day, Pelletier said.

Firefighters from Hermon, Levant, Carmel, Glenburn, Bangor, Hampden and a tanker truck from the Air National Guard responded
