WINDHAM, Maine — A portion of Route 202 is closed because of an accident involving a car and a motorcycle.
The accident happened around 6 a.m. at the intersection of Lotts Drive and Gray Road/Route 202.
Route 202 is closed from Windham center to the Route 302/202 rotary.
According to police, the driver of the car, an 18-year-old man, drifted out of his lane and caused the crash.
Police on scene say the 55-year-old driver of the motorcycle suffered serious injuries, but he is expected to survive.
A Cumberland County corrections officer was on his way to work and saw the crash. He gave first aid to the motorcyclist and likely saved his life, police said.
The crash remains under investigation.
