BANGOR, Maine — Jake Ireland recorded two singles and three RBIs to lead Coffee News’ 15-hit attack as the Comrades beat Steamboat of Waldo County 10-3 in senior American Legion baseball action Wednesday night at Mansfield Stadium.
Sam Huston, Andrew Hillier, and Kyle Stevenson also produced two hits each as all nine starters collected hits for Coffee News of Bangor (8-3).
Marcus McCue pitched six strong innings, allowing one run on six hits while James Prescott picked up the save with three innings of relief.
For Steamboat (1-9), Mike Hustus singled, tripled and drove in two runs. Alex Flagg, Emery Dinsmore and Kyle Moore each had two hits.

At Husson University’s Winkin Complex in Bangor, Seth Pearson and Ryan Jurgewich combined on eight strikeouts without walking a batter to lead Motor City of Bangor by Penquis.
Both pitchers gave up five hits apiece with Pearson working the first five innings and striking out five. Jurgewich came on to finish the next four innings, giving up the two runs and striking out three.
Ethan Stoddard tripled, singled and drove in a run to spark Motor City (8-3). Tommy Burns chipped in with a triple and two RBIs while Cody Collins and Ryan Ward each contributed a hit and an RBI.
Aron Smestad, Matthew Spear, Brooks Lawn and Brandon Young each recorded two hits for Penquis (1-10) with Spear and Young each driving in a run.
Brewer 10, Madison 8
At Heddericg Field in Brewer, the Falcons rallied for four runs in the seventh inning to notch the victory in an inning highlighted by Jake Gauvin’s RBI single and Alex Maxsimic’s bases-loaded walk.
Michael Grimble paced Brewer (8-2) with a homer, double, single and an RBI. Gauvin added three singles and two RBIs while Carter DeRedin contributed two singles and a double. Matt Pushard, Dylan Soper and Alex Brooks each chipped in with two singles with Pushard and Soper each adding an RBI.
Chase Malloy sparked Madison (3-8) with a double, triple and RBI while Brendan Curran added two singles and Chase Nelson had a single and an RBI.

At Bar Harbor, Porter Isaacs blasted a two-run homer to pace the Acadians in the District 1 all-star tourney contest.
Logan Beckwith contributed a two-run triple and singled to back up winning pitcher Sam Mitchell, who struck out 12, including the first six batters he faced.
Logan Stanley hit a solo home run to spark Bucksport while Brady Findlay and Owen Gaudreau each added a single.
On Thursday, Bucksport (0-1) will host Coastal of Blue Hill and the Acadians (2-0) will host Machias.

At Bar Harbor, Nick Athern recorded a single, double and scored three runs while Kason Fergerson added a two-run triple to lead Machias to victory in a District 1 all-star tourney game.
Machias (3-1) advances in the championship round and will play at Ellsworth Friday while the Acadians finished at 2-2.
Drew Abelon added an RBI double and single while Brian Dennison notched two singles and an RBI and Ayden Wannamacher had an RBI single for Machias.
Quetin Pileggi paced the Acadians with two singles, a double and four RBIs. Evan Ankrom added two singles and three RBIs and Andrew James had a single and scored a run.
